How I work
I don't start every project from a blank canvas. I work from one personal master system: a brand-agnostic set of rules for color, type, space, motion, and voice. Every project is that system tuned to a brand, and this very site is one instance of it. The rules sit on the left, and the way this page applies them sits on the right.
A neutral canvas and a single signal color. Everything else is greyscale, earned through contrast, not hue.
One expressive display face and one mono for labels and data. Tight tracking, with confident jumps in size.
Hairline rules instead of boxes. An 8-point rhythm and plenty of quiet space around everything.
One easing curve and two durations. Motion confirms an action, it never decorates.
Lowercase mono microcopy, parenthetical asides, and links that roll a letter on hover.
